Nokia Launches a Rugged Smartphone as Nokia XR20, Promises 4 years of Monthly Security Update

We have been witnessing the launch of rugged smartphones, such as Energizer Hard Case G5, Doogee S97 Pro, Motorola Defy (2021), and Samsung Galaxy XCover 5, for quite some time now. On 27th July 2021, Nokia also launched a rugged smartphone as Nokia XR20 along with Nokia C30. The Nokia XR20 price in the United Kingdom is $550 (around Rs. 65,350) for the 6/128 GB model. So, the expected price of the Nokia XR20 in Nepal is NPR 75,500 for the 6/128 GB model. Let us find more about the newly rugged smartphone in detail.

Nokia XR20 Overview

Nokia XR20 is an improved, more rigid, and better version of the Nokia X20. It is a 5G smartphone which seems to last longer with up-to-date OS and security updates. The smartphone is suitable for travelers who have to fight extreme conditions.

Design and Build Quality

Nokia XR20 sports a 6.67 inches display with an aspect ratio of 20:9. The resolution of the rugged smartphone is FHD+ 1080 x 2400 pixels and has a 550 nits brightness. Additionally, the display has a punch hole housing the front camera. Likewise, the smartphone has wet hands and gloves compatibility.

Nokia has designed the Nokia XR20 to go for a long run. Nokia claims the smartphone to stand up against anything life throws at it. Corning Gorilla glass Victus protects the display of the smartphone. Similarly, it has an ultra-solid case with the toughest display glass among the Nokia phones. Likewise, the display is scratch-resistant, drop-resistant, temperature-resistant, water-resistant, and kid and pet resistant.

The casing of the Nokia XR20 is made to the MIL-STD-810H military standard. When the smartphone gets dirty, you can clean it using soap and water. Likewise, the smartphone also stands out in sunlight.

Nokia XR20 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics authentication. Furthermore, the smartphone is available in two colors: Granite and Ultra Blue. It weighs 248 grams.

Performance

Nokia XR20 packs the chipset from Qualcomm – Snapdragon 480 5G. It is an 8 nm chipset. For the graphics handling, it employs Adreno 619. Similarly, the internal storage of 128 GB is available in the smartphone. It has a sole RAM option of only 6 GB. Also, the storage of the smartphone is expandable via a microSD card for up to 512 GB.

Nokia XR20 runs on Android 11 out of the box. Nokia promises up to 3 years of OS upgrade and four years of monthly security updates, meaning the smartphone will be up to date into 2025. Hence you can use the smartphone in the long term, which supports the betterment of the environment. You also get Spotify pre-installed on the smartphone.

Camera

Nokia XR20 flaunts a dual rear camera consisting of the main camera and the ultra-wide camera. It has a main camera of 48 MP sensor, while the ultra-wide camera is of 13 MP sensor. The video resolution of 1080p at 30 frames per second is possible from the rear camera. Likewise, a dedicated flash for each camera is present for capturing details despite the lighting condition.

It has the new SpeedWarp mode with super-stabilization that lets you fast forward to the key moments. On the other hand, the OZO spatial audio capture with wind-noise cancellation captures the only sound you want.

The other features of the rear camera of the Nokia XR20 include ZEISS Optics, ZEISS Portrait, ZEISS Cinematic Effects, SpeedWarp mode, Action Cam mode, Night mode, HDR, Cinema mode, Beautification, Panorama, and Watermark.

The selfie camera of the Nokia XR20 is an 8 MP sensor with an f/2.0 lens. It can record the video in 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Battery

Nokia XR20 packs Li-Po 4630 mAh non-removable battery. It supports 15W wireless charging as well as 18W fast charging. As per Nokia, the battery lasts for up to two days. Similarly, the smartphone is equipped with AI battery-saving technology.

Nokia XR20 Expected Price in Nepal and Availability

The Nokia XR20 price in the UK starts at $550 for the sole 6/128 GB configuration, which is around Rs. 65,350. Following the price in the UK, we expect the price of the Nokia XR20 to be around NPR 60,000 for the 75,000 for the 6/128 GB model. 

However, the launch date of the Nokia XR20 in Nepal is not available yet, and we are not sure about its launch. The national distributor of the Nokia smartphones in Nepal is Teletalk Pvt. Ltd.
