On 22nd June 2021, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer- Doogee unveiled Doogee S97 Pro. They are marketing the smartphone as the first rugged phone to have a professional laser rangefinder. It is a rugged smartphone similar to Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 and Motorola Defy (2021). The expected price of the Doogee S97 Pro in Nepal is NPR 40,000 for 8/128 GB.
Doogee S97 Pro Overview
Doogee S97 Pro is a rugged smartphone with a massive battery. Here, the rangefinder can detect a distance of up to 40 meters. It also has eight measuring modes. The smartphone is built for various environments and excels under extreme environments.
Design and Build Quality
The smartphone has a 6.39-inches HD+Dot display. It has a resolution of 1560 x 720 pixels. On the top-left corner of the display, it has a punch-hole cutout selfie. The laser rangefinder emitter and receiver are located on the top of the phone.
Doogee S97 Pro has IP68 and IP69K immersion protection, designed and built for harsh environment use. It also has Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Likewise, it is also drop-proof and can withstand a fall from a height of 1.5 meters.
The screen has a refresh rate of 60 GHz and a touch sampling rate of 120 GHz.
The rear panel has a quad-camera setup inside a rectangular module. It has three color options: Orange Tiger, Lava Red, and Silver Black.
It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Performance
Powering the Doogee S97 Pro is the MediaTek Helio G95 chipset with a processing technology of 12 nm. The chipset further pairs with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of inbuilt storage. You also have the option of expanding the memory up to 256 GB via T-Flash external storage.
The smartphone has an intelligent cooling system that combines with multiple temperature sensors to quickly detect a heat source and act accordingly to prevent overheating.
Doogee S97 Pro runs on Android 11 out of the box. It also has an app toolbox, highlighting a vast array of apps, useful for construction, hiking, and other outdoor activities.
Camera
Doogee S97 Pro flaunts a quad-camera setup. The primary camera, ultra-wide camera, and a macro camera sit on one column, while the portrait camera sits separately on the other column.
The AI main camera is a 48 MP sensor, while the ultra-wide camera is an 8 MP sensor with a 130-degree field of view. The remaining two cameras, i.e., macro camera and portrait camera, are 2 MP each.
Selfie camera of the Doogee S97 Pro is a 16 MP AI sensor.
The smartphone’s camera allows you to shoot videos in 1080p, 720p, and 480p with richer detail and smoother action. A range of modes like GIF, Macro, Slow Motion, Time Lapse, Panorama, and Intelligent Scanning are available.
