A London-based company – Nothing, has officially unveiled Nothing Ear (1) earbuds after months of its teases, some rumors, and leaks. Carl Pei is the company’s CEO, who announced his new company after parting away from the OnePlus; he was also the co-founder of OnePlus. Here, we are exploring more about nothing’s first product – Nothing Ear (1), its features, specifications, and availability, along with the expected price in Nepal.

Nothing Ear (1) is the new earbuds that have basic features and are quite affordable. However, the release took time due to its unique design. The price of the Nothing Ear (1) is $99 or INR 5,999 in India. Accordingly, the expected price of Nothing Ear 1 in Nepal is NPR 10,000.

Nothing Ear (1) has a unique and attractive design with great audio quality. However, it has mediocre ANC and limited codec support.

Design and Build Quality

Nothing Ear (1) sports a transparent plastic design with a distinctive look for earbuds and charging cases. Some of the internal circuits are revealed with the design. This is a unique design as the other earbuds are not transparent at all. Likewise, the earbuds have a stem design featuring silicone tips. Each earbud weighs 4.7 grams.

The earbuds have three different sizes of silicone ear tips. The earbuds have touch control, which can be customized through a companion app. They also have an IPX4 rating for water resistance, allowing them to survive sweat and accidental splashes. 

The right edge of the charging case has a USB Type-C port for charging and a button to initiate the pairing process.


Nothing Ear (1) has an 11.6 mm Graphene driver. Likewise, the audio codecs available in the earbuds are AAC and SBC.

For connectivity, the earbuds have the latest Bluetooth, i.e., Bluetooth v5.2. It is compatible with Android v5.1 or above and iPhone 11 or above. Additionally, it also supports Fast Pairing with select Android smartphones.

Audio Features

The earbuds have Active Noise Cancellation. Also, via transparency mode, you can avoid isolation from the surrounding. Similarly, the earbuds have three high-definition microphones used for voice calls and cancellation of environmental noise.

The Nothing Ear (1) stem supports tap and hold, and sliding input for the touch control. You can also customize the tap and hold as per your desire. A double-tap will pause or play the music, while the sliding up or down controls volume. Similarly, triple tap sets to the next song, previous song, or no action. And finally, tap and hold adjust the noise cancellation or no action. 

A unique feature of the earbuds is when you take off one earbud, the other earbud will switch to transparency mode until both the earbuds are back in the ears.


Nothing Ear (1) possesses a battery life of 34 hours when used with the charging case and ANC off, while the earbud alone has a battery life of 5.7 hours with ANC off. While the ANC is on, the battery life drops to 24 hours and 4 hours, respectively.

The earbuds support a Qi-certified wireless charger as well as wired charging via USB Type-C. Through 10 minutes of fast charging, it provides 8 hours of playback. At the same time, the full charge takes 52 minutes. On the other hand, wireless charging takes around 2.5 hours to fill a full charge.

The official price of the Nothing Ear (1) is $99, EUR 99, or INR 5,999; its converted price is around NPR 11782. Following the official price, the expected price of Nothing Ear (1) in Nepal is NPR 10,000. Nothing Ear (1) is now available in 45 countries, including the UK, Europe, and North America.
