Redmi Note 9 Pro Max launched in Nepal, Similar To Note 9 Pro?

Being the ninth generation of Redmi Notes, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is as attractive as ever. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max looks pretty solid mid-ranger smartphone under 40,000 in Nepal as it is one of the best offering from Xiaomi under the Redmi sub-brand in Nepal. Launched on 12th March 2020, it is now available in Nepal from 12th August 2020. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max price in Nepal starts from NPR 29,999.

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max Overview

Redmi Note 9 Pro is one of the largest screen sizes offered by the brand.  Note 9, Note 9 Pro, and Note 9 Pro Max share a lot of similarities in hardware and look virtually identical. But the Note 9 Pro model has comparatively better front and rear cameras, more RAM, and fast charging. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is the successor of the Redmi Note 8 Pro. It has a large screen, an attractive multi-camera setup, gaming-friendly hardware (Qualcomm), and the latest Android MIUI.

Design and Build Quality

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max has a punch-hole in the front centered on the top to place a 16MP selfie camera and a black square at the back, the home for the quad-camera. The front is all screen, except there is a noticeable black chin just below the 6.67 inches IPS LCD panel.

The display has a Gorilla Glass 5 protection and an aspect ratio of 20:9 with the screen frame painted with black: no matter which color phone you choose. A very thin and lone grille is placed within the screen enclosure above the selfie camera, which contains the earpiece and one tiny notification LED light.

The plastic frame on the back has a matte finish, giving a nice grip and smudge repellant. The bottom has a speaker, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C port, and a mouthpiece. The left side of the frame has the tri-card slot for two SIMs and a microSD. Similarly, the volume rocker and the power key are placed on the right, which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The phone is P2i water-repellent.

Performance

The processor is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC, Octa-core processor with Adreno 618 GPU, where G in 720G points towards gaming improvements. The phone has variants of three in terms of storage: 6GB RAM with 64GB storage, 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM with 128GB storage. Though the smartphone handles the game well but gets warm if the gaming is done for longer durations.

The phone boots the latest version of MIUI 12 and runs on top of Android 10.

Camera

The back has a quad-camera placed in a square with a 119-degree ultra-wide snapper of 8MP, a 64MP primary, a 5MP micro-camera, and a 2MP depth sensor

The primary camera has a Quad-Bayer filter. It is a large sensor with 0.8µm pixels. The ultra-wide-angle has an automatic distortion correction applied when necessary. The autofocus on the macro camera is a much-appreciated feature.

The 64MP camera saves the images in 16MP by default. With the resolved detail, color accuracy, and dynamic range, the pictures are perfect. The noise is visible only in the uniform color. The 8MP camera gives a good ultra-wide photo with enough detail and color contrast. Even the distortion correction is good enough. Similarly, the 5MP macro camera has brilliant close-ups.

The colors with the macro camera are a bit dull, but other than that, it all great. The portrait quality is determined by the available light as the resolved detail would drastically drop when the light is not perfect. The night mode is something you should try. However, there is no night mode for the ultra-wide camera.

The 16MP selfie shooter is not as sharp, as the front camera uses a 16MP sensor with a Quad-Bayer filter. But the photos are still good enough. HDR has given a good output too.

Let’s talk about the video now. The video captured by Xiaomi Redmi is up to 4K @30fps; also, 1080p@60fps and 1080p@30fps. The 1080p clips @30fps are nicely detailed, and the best you can get nowadays. Additionally, the 2x zoomed video is also available. Electronic stabilization is available only while shooting in 1080p at 30fps and works on the primary and ultra-wide cameras.

Battery

Note 9 Pro Max features a 5020mAh Li-Po type battery with up to 492 hours of standby time. Additionally, a 33W fast charging is provided. 60% of the charge is replenished within 30 min, starting from 0%. The 33W fast-charger is shipped along with the phone.
