Chinese smartphone maker Realme had a great year in 2019 with the launch of several smartphones, especially in the budget segment. Expanding the C-series range of smartphones, Realme unveiled Realme C3, an entry-level phone, in Nepal.
The Realme C3 official price in Nepal is Rs. 16,990 for the base variant. Considering the high competition in the price segment, is the Realme C3 a good deal?
Realme C3 Overview
The Realme C3 was officially unveiled in India in February 2020. This handset is the successor to the Realme C2 and Comes with some notable software and hardware upgrades over the Realme C2. Let’s walk through its specs and features.
Design and Display
The Realme C2 had a diamond-cut back design. Likewise, the successor Realme C3 has got a unique look – the Sunrise design, as the company has called it. The back of the handset shows the rays similar to those emitted at sunrise. Like C2, it has a plastic coating, which makes it resistant to fingerprint marks and scratches.
At the back, Realme C3 (Global variant) has a triple camera setup with a fingerprint sensor. The Realme C3 (Indian variant) comes with a dual-camera with no fingerprint sensor. Like many Realme devices, it also has a dewdrop notch display upfront housing a selfie-camera.
Speaking of its display, the Realme C3 features an IPS LCD 6.5” HD+ display with a dimension of 164.4mm x 75mm x 9 mm (6.47inch x 2.95inch x 0.35 inch). The phone can retain a resolution of 1600*720 pixels with 270 PPI density. It offers a 20:9 aspect ratio and the screen-to-body ratio of 82.7%.
Performance
Talking of performance, the phone is powered by the new MediaTek Helio G70 SoC (12nm) with HyperEngine technology. It is an octa-core processor (2 × 2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6 × 1.7 GHz Cortex-A55) complemented with Mali G52 GPU. This seems like an amazing chipset selection for a budget device like the Realme C3.
As for the memory, the base variant of the Realme C3 comes with a 3GB/32GB setup, and the higher-end one comes with a 4GB/64GB. Interestingly, the phone operates on the new Realme UI 1.0 based on Android 10 instead of ColorOS from its parent company OPPO.
Camera
Let’s look at the most interesting part i.e. camera. Realme C3 comes in two variants – Global and Indian. The Indian option comes with a dual-camera setup at the back with a 12MP primary sensor of f/1.8 aperture size. Accompanying it is a 2MP depth sensor with an aperture of f/2.4.
Meanwhile, the Global variant sports a triple camera setup with an additional 2MP macro lens. Realme launched the Global variant of the Realme C3 in Nepal.
On the front side, the phone has a selfie camera with a 5MP camera lens with an f/2.4 aperture size and a CMOS sensor. Also, the phone can click 1080p @ 30fps videos.
Speaking of camera modes, it’s almost identical to Realme’s previous phones. Consumers get modes like Time-lapse, Portrait, Slo-mo, Expert, and Pano on this device. Also, it comes with quick toggles for chroma boost and HDR.
Battery
Along with its powerful chipset, the Realme C3 packs a massive 5000mAh battery, bringing excellent performance and battery life. For normal operation, it can last all day or more without connecting the phone to the charger. Though it takes over two hours to fully charge this smartphone with a 10W charger coming in a box, the result makes it even.
