Xiaomi launched its Mi 10 series of phones on 13th February 2020. They are trying to preserve the brand Mi by bringing the flagship phone back with Mi 10. Mi 10 Overview
The phone has a fantastic AMOLED display with an incredible premium design. The primary camera has a high-resolution lens, and the selfie snapper is impressive. Further, it has a massive battery with wireless and wired charging, supporting reversible charging.
Design and Build quality
The phone has a lot to love about the design. The front and back are made from glass, while the frame is metallic. The display is 6.67 inches with FHD+ having a curved E3 AMOLED panel. The refresh rate of the smartphone is 90Hz. The phone display, which produces excellent brightness and color reproduction, is incredible. Similarly, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 gives protection to the phone’s front and back. A selfie snapper is on the top-left corner in a punch hole module.
On the phone’s right lies a power lock/unlock button above which lies a volume rocker. On the top lies an IR blaster, a speaker grille, and a noise-canceling microphone. The phone employs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 with an octa-core processing having 5G liquid cooling. An Octa-core has 1×2.84 GHz Kryo 585 Gold (Cortex-A77 derivative) & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 585 Gold (Cortex-A77 derivative) & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 585 Silver (Cortex-A55 derivative). The GPU is Adreno 650. The phone has either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM with an internal storage option of 128GB and 256GB.
The phone runs MIUI 11 on top of Android 10. For security, Mi 10 has the option of a fingerprint reader and face unlocking. It also supports an Always-on display. Additionally, dark mode is another display option you get. Multitasking with the phone is smooth. The phone is also advertisement-free, unlike another inexpensive phone from the brand.
Camera
The quad-camera setup at the rear has a 108MP primary lens, a dedicated 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro camera. The camera has different modes of shooting.
The primary camera gives excellent color, contrast, and details, while the 13MP ultra-wide lens is not a flagship-grade, though. However, under better light, the images with ultra-wide-angle are good. But it lacks a dedicated night-mode while the primary camera has the night-mode. The primary camera also captures excellent pictures without night-mode but takes time to process in low light. The portrait uses its 2MP depth sensor and gives fair images with an over-smooth skin tone.
Selfie is incredible with good sharpness and accurate color tone. Portrait selfie is good as well, although it properly lacks edge detection.
The phone can process 8K video recording, although it is available for only 6 minutes and lacks stabilization. On the other hand, you get the best stabilization with 4K@30fps and 1080p @30fps, along with superior color reproduction. A video of up to 4K @30fps with a wide-angle lens is recordable with average stabilization.
Battery
A 4780 mAh battery, which supports 30W wire and wireless, powers the phone. Reverse wireless charging support for the battery is also available.
