The lockdown in Nepal has not stopped Vivo from launching new devices in the Nepali market. Last week, the company launched an upper mid-range phone, Vivo V19 in Nepal and it is back again with the launch of its new mid-range device, the Vivo Y30.
The official price of Vivo Y30 in the Nepali market is Rs. 23,499 for the 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage variant and Rs. 25,599 for the 4 GB RAM with 128 GB storage variant.
Vivo Y30 Overview
Vivo is known to put the phone’s design above its performance, and it is evident on the Vivo Y30. The device offers a sleek design with a modern hole-punch cutout on the screen. It is able to be in the list of best smartphone to consider under 25,000 in Nepal.
Design and Display
The device has a modern and refined design. Although the back panel is made from plastic, the glossy finish with a 3D curve design gives it a very premium and modern look and feel and features a rectangular camera module to house the rear camera setup.
The back panel comes in three colour options: Moonstone White, Dazzle Blue and Emerald Black. The device measures 9.1 mm in thickness and weighs 197 grams and features a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.
It offers a 6.47 inches IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1560 pixels in an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The iView Display features a punch-hole cutout on the top left corner to house the device’s selfie camera, making the 90.7% screen to body ratio. It also features the Eye Protection Mode, which adjusts the display’s colours to reduce blue light and relieve the users’ eye strain.
Performance and Memory
Vivo Y30 is powered by Mediatek Helio P35 processor coupled with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The Helio P35 processor is an underperforming chipset for the device of this price range. The chipset is used in budget devices like Oppo A3s and Huawei Y6s. The device is available in a single configuration of 4 GB RAM. However, the user can select the option of either 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage.
Vivo has integrated Vivo Process Guardian Technology into its Multi-Turbo 3.0 to make up for the underperforming chipset, which can predict abnormalities caused by third-party apps. It runs on FuntouchOS 10.0 based on Android 10 out of the box.
Camera
It features a rear quad camera setup consisting of a 13 MP primary lens of f/2.2 aperture, an 8 MP ultra-wide lens of f/2.2 aperture, a 2 MP depth sensor of f/2.4 aperture, and a 2 MP macro lens of f/2.4 aperture. The camera is arranged vertically inside the camera module.
Upfront, the selfie camera is an 8 MP shooter. Both of these front and the back camera setup can take 1080p videos at 30fps.
Battery
The device packs a massive 5000 mAh battery. According to Vivo, the device can last up to 9 hours of gameplay and 137.09 hours of music playback through earphones with Airplane mode turned on. There is also support for 5W reverse charging; however, it does not support fast charging.
