Vivo Y20G is the new mid-range device from Vivo under the Y20 lineup. The Vivo Y20 was launched in Nepal back in September 2020. Vivo has officially launched the Y20G in India on January 19, 2021, just days after the company launched Vivo Y12s, the Vivo Y51A, and the Vivo Y20A in the Indian market.
The Vivo Y20G is already available for purchase in India, with the official price set at INR 14,990.
Vivo Y20G Overview
Design and Display
Other than the new color option of Purist Blue, the Y20G retains the design of the regular Y20. The device has a plastic back and side frame, measuring 8.41mm in thickness and weighing 192.3 grams.
The device features a 6.51-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 16000 pixels in a 20:9 aspect ratio, which is the same display used in the regular Y20. The screen has a waterdrop notch to house the single front-facing camera. The phone body has a screen-to-body ratio of 81.6%, with noticeable bezels around the screen and ~270 PPI density.
Performance and Memory
Although the Y20G’s design aspect is the same as the regular Y20, the Y20G is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 chipset, which is much more powerful than the Snapdragon 460 in the regular Y20. Vivo claims the Y20G to be 20% better optimized than the Y20.
The device is available in a single configuration of 6GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The device’s internal storage can be extended using the dedicated microSD card slot. The device runs on Funtouch 11 based on Android 11 out of the box.
Camera
The Vivo Y20G features a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 13 MP primary aperture with an f/2.2 lens, a 2 MP portrait sensor with an f/2.4 aperture, and a 2 MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The cameras and a LED flash are arranged vertically inside the rectangular camera module.
The device’s selfie camera is an 8 MP camera sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. These cameras can record 1080p videos at 30 fps and support Portrait, Photo, Video, Panorama, Live Photo, Slo-mo, Time-Lapse, Professional, Documents shooting modes.
Battery
The Y20G is backed up by a massive 5000 mAh battery with the support of 18W fast charging. According to Vivo, the device can charge up to 70% in 69 minutes. The device also supports reverse charging. However, the device still uses the micro USB.
Additional Features
The device features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which can unlock the phone in 0.17 seconds with the screen on and 0.34 seconds with the screen off, according to Vivo. It comes with dual-SIM, dedicated microSD card slot, 4G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
