Krafton, the developer of PUBG Mobile has been lately sharing some teasers on the Indian version of the game. The company has announced that the game will be reintroduced with a new avatar and a different name, Battleground Mobile India. Still, there hasn’t been any confirmation on the official launch date. The pre-registration of the game has already started in India suggesting it to release soon.
Battleground Mobile India Pre-Registration
The pre-registration for the Indian version of PUBG Mobile went live on the Google Play store on May 18, 2021. Millions of Indian fans eagerly waiting for the return of the game took part in the pre-registration. According to Krafton, the game received 7.6 million pre-registrations on its opening day and crossed over 20 million pre-registrations within two weeks.
A new teaser image has recently been released as a reminder for PUBG fans who are yet to pre-register for the game. The new teaser shows a level 3 backpack similar to PUBG Mobile which is the highest level with maximum storage capacity for game items. It has also revealed the Sanhok and Erangel maps. The pre-registration also offers many exclusive benefits for the players while downloading the game.
PUBG Mobile India Release and Restrictions
Several media sources and PUBG Mobile influencers have been providing updates on the possible launch date of the Indian version. As per the leaks, the game is expected to be available for players from June 18, 2021. An official media company, IGN India had also reported that the Battleground Mobile India would release on June 18. There are also some other gaming communities believing the game to release in June 10.
Along with the increasing hype of Battleground India, some Indian government officials are raising concerns about the release. There have been requests to ban the game with criticisms on the involvement of Tencent, a Chinese technology firm that was the main investor of PUBG Mobile India. The Indian government had previously sued Tencent claiming its inappropriate use of the gamers’ data which led to the ban of PUBG Mobile.
Updated Features and Policies
Battleground Mobile India is an alternate version of PUBG Mobile with necessary customizations based on Indian players. It will come with new updates such as Indian specific in-game events, outfits, parental control, time restriction and green hits. However, it will provide the same battle royale game experience. The game will have multiple game modes where you can play with squads or single-player. In addition, there will be new maps with diverse environment developed using Unreal Engine 4.
Both PUBG Mobile India and PUBG Mobile Lite were banned in India in September 2020 due to data security and privacy concerns. Therefore, Krafton has opted for new terms and policies that follow the conditions set by the Indian government. The Indian version will be less violent and non-disturbing for the players. Gamers under the age of 18 will not get permission to play Battleground Mobile India without their parents’ consent.
