To lose support from the Google service is a massive loss for the company, but they have not stopped manufacturing the new smartphone. On 7th February 2020, Huawei launched a new smartphone Huawei Y7p under its Y series. The phone is also already available in Nepal, and the price for Huawei Y7p in Nepal is NPR 23,990. Let us explore what has replaced the Google Play Services in Huawei Y7p.
Huawei Y7p Overview
The budget-friendly phone has a good camera and battery. Huawei Y7p is like the younger sibling of the Huawei Y9s that made a few sacrifices to allow for a phone with the same CPU in a budget that is hard to ignore. It has many similar features and has cut off only a few parts from the Y9s.
Design and Build Quality
Huawei Y7p has a 6.39 inches IPS LCD. The display has a resolution of 720x 1560 pixels. The phone is made with glass on the back and front with a plastic frame, but its aesthetic design makes the plastic look like glass. The phone weighs 176 grams. The smartphone also comes in two color variants: Aurora Blue and Midnight Black.
The front has a punched hole for housing the selfie camera on the top-left corner, while the triple rear camera lies in a vertical column on the left corner. It also has a fingerprint sensor in the center at the back.
Similarly, the phone on the left side has a tray for housing a microSD card and a dual Nano-SIM, whereas the right side has the volume rocker and a power button. There is a microphone at the top, and on the bottom, there is a speaker, a secondary microphone, a micro USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Performance
Powering the phone is a HiSilicon Kirin 710F octa-core CPU, having a 4×2.2 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53. Mali-G51 MP4 handles the graphics. As the chipset is mid-range, it performs average. Similarly, the RAM is 4GB with 64GB internal storage.
The phone boots on EMUI 9 based on Android 9.0. And without a doubt, there is no Google Play Services on the phone. Y7p has Huawei App Gallery as the pre-installed App Store. The phone is equipped with a fingerprint sensor on the rear for convenience and safety. Also, the fingerprint sensor is not the fastest but is accurate.
Camera
On the rear, the phone flaunts a triple camera: a 48MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2MP depth sensor with an aperture of f/2.4.
The camera of the phone has many features like slow motion and night-mode. The primary camera gives enough contrast to the skin tone. Portrait mode in the camera also has a good depth sense. Similarly, the Night-mode works like magic for the budget you spend.
The selfie on the front has an 8MP camera with an aperture of f/2.0
Selfie snapper produces pretty good pictures with proper saturation. Even in the low light, the selfies are acceptable.
Huawei can captures 1080p @ 30fps video, from both rear and front camera. We can expect a lack of stabilization in the video.
Battery
Fueling the phone is a Li-Po 4000 mAh non-removable battery. The battery supports 10W charging.
