Established in 2006, DJI has been redefining drones and amazing us with its innovation. Now, the company has a new release DJI FPV (First Person View) drone, which combines the best value in technology for a hybrid drone. The price of DJI FPV Drone in Nepal is NPR 198,000 for the whole combination.
DJI FPV Drone Overview
DJI FPV drone offers GPS, hover and emergency brake, obstacle avoidance sensors, and return to the home. It is ready to fly out-of-the-box; suitable for both neophyte and experts.
Design and Build Quality
On the front of the aircraft, it features LED lights, which are customizable according to your choice of color. The camera is a 12MP sensor with a super-wide field of view of 150-degree, video transmission of up to 4K @60p or 1080p @120p, 4x slow motion, and footage at 120Mbps is achievable. To prevent shutter rolling effects, it uses RockSteady image stabilization during high-speed flights.
For convenience in the repairing, the parts are easily replaceable and modular. It weighs 795 grams.
The DJI FPV ecosystem includes a drone, Remote controller 2, FPV Goggles V2, and a Motion controller. You can also try the DJI virtual flight app before taking off the flight in the real world. For the virtual flight, you can connect the DJI FPV Goggles V2 and remote controller and take a flight in a virtually risk-free environment.
With the speed of the DJI FPV drone of up to 87mph or 140kph, it offers a 10km transmission range. Viewing option of the DJI FPV are:
Standard low-latency HD mode: In this mode, you can view the world in a resolution of 1440 x 810p in either 60 fps or 50 fps, with the field of view of 142-degree or 150-degree, respectively. The latency of this mode is ≤ 40ms.
Smooth mode: With this mode, the pilot can activate high frame rates giving a more cinematic look. However, the latency declines to less than or equal to 28ms with the resolution being 1440 x 810p at 120fps.
Audience mode: Here the pilot’s view can be shared by connecting up to eight Goggle sets.
Flight Modes
Due to the three intuitive flight modes, a seasoned pilot or even a complete beginner can fly the drone with confidence. It has three different flight modes to use according to the skill level of the pilot:
Normal (N) Mode: It allows the pilot to fly by activating obstacle detection sensors so that it automatically slows or stops the drone before crashing with any object. The maximum speed of 50 km/h is available for the mode.
Manual (M) Mode: M mode lets you experience limitless control with full FPV flight experience. Hence, it is recommended only after you have confidence in the FPV flight. Here the hover and obstacle sensors are disabled; however, the emergency brake will work.
Sport (S) Mode: S mode combines both the offering of N mode and M mode meaning it has the dynamic movement capabilities like M mode as well as key safety features of N mode. It can hover in place but without the activation of obstacle detection sensors. Speed in this mode is up to 97 km/h.
FPV Goggles V2
The Live View mode on the FPV has a transmission rate of 1440 x 810 at 120fps with 142-degree FOV or 100 fps at 150-degree FOV, giving a clearer view.
DJI FPV has audience mode support, by setting DJI FPV Goggles V2 units to the aircraft channel. Also, the DJI FPV Fly app displays the live view from the goggles to your smartphone when connected via cable.
The goggles have USB Type-C for power and an HDMI output. Another USB Type-C port and microSD card slot are covered with a small rubber flap. The later USB C-port lets you connect to the computer for a firmware update.
Remote Controller 2
DJI FPV has an emergency brake and hovers, letting you stop and hover within a few seconds after you press the buttons on the remote controller regardless of the mode you are using. For safety, DJI FPV has features like auxiliary button light, smart return to home, and low battery RTH.
The DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 houses a battery of 4920 mAh. It is a conventional-style controller, which controls the motion of the drone.
Motion Controller
With DJI Motion Controller, you can now make the movement based on your natural hand motions. Through the buttons on the top, you can adjust the camera angle, start or stop the recordings, and capture the pictures. You can also use it for emergency braking and to hover.
It weighs 167 grams with operating frequencies ranging 2.400-2.4835GHz and 5.725-5.850 GHz. The maximum battery life of the controller is 5 hours.
