Xiaomi MI A3 Overview
Xiaomi is bringing the audio jack back and has the MicroSD slot and FM audio. Mi A3 has a Super AMOLED screen, a new Snapdragon chipset, a trending triple-camera setup, and a large 4030 mAh battery. Design and Build Quality
Xiaomi Mi A3 is a typical glass-sandwich phone built with a plastic frame, protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The display is super AMOLED with HD+ resolution and a 32MP selfie snapper placed in a water-drop notch. A 6.09-inches display has average sunlight visibility. The top bezel has an earpiece grille at the center and invisible sensors on the left. The phone weighs 174 grams.
The back has a Gorilla Glass 5, bent towards the edges giving a slimmer feel to the phone. A triple camera setup lies in a vertical column at the top left corner. The hybrid SIM slot lies on the left side of the frame and can take two nano-SIM cards or one SIM and a microSD card.
The top of the frame has a 3.5mm headphone jack and an IR blaster. The bottom has a loudspeaker, a mouthpiece, and a USB Type-C port. However, the grip is not firm enough, and you may use a transparent case to preserve the captivating look of the phone while giving a superior grip.
Performance
Xiaomi Mi A3 is the first smartphone to have Snapdragon 665 chipset, a minor upgrade over the Mi A2’s Snapdragon 660 chip. The processor is an octa-core Kryo 260 CPU with 4×2.0 GHz Kryo 260 gold and 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260 silver. The Kryo cores clocks at 200MHz. The GPU is Adreno 610. The chipset has a new DSP and an ISP for the 48MP primary camera support. The two variants of RAM are available: 4GB and 6GB.
The smartphone boots a clean Android OS. The OS is the Android 9.0 Pie version. You can unlock the phone with the optical on-display fingerprint scanner, which is accurate but slow. Additionally, face-unlock is also the option you get.
Camera
The triple camera features a 48MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle snapper, and a 2MP depth sensor.
The images lack stabilizations; however, the contrast is excellent, and the photos are sharp too. Options for beautification, HDR, AI, video mode, and picture quality are available. You also have the night-mode option while taking pictures at night or under the little light. The 12MP images are what you get by default. The ultra-wide-angle camera’s photos are average but surprisingly has better colors and less noise. The portrait shots are outstanding under adequate light but are average under low light.
A 32MP selfie camera is an excellent snapper giving enough detail, nice color, and sharp images. The portrait selfie also blurs the background quite proficiently without having depth sensors. In contrast, you get a drop of sharpness.
Video of up to 4K @30fps is recordable along with 1080p @30fps and 1080p @60fps. The ultra-wide-angle, however, records only 1080p @30fps. 4K videos are sharp and give details with less noise. Similarly, the contrast of the picture is impressive; the color is nice and vibrant. The 1080p footage with 30fps is also great. On the other hand, the video of 10080p @ 60fps is not good enough.
Battery
The Xiaomi Mi A3 is the first A-series to have a 4030mAh Li-ion battery supporting quick charge 3.0 with an 18W charger. A full charge for the battery will take about 100 mins. But the phone ships with a 10W charger.
