Oppo Reno 3 is the cheaper version of the Oppo Reno 3 pro. Internationally the Reno 3 was announced and available for purchase in March 2020. Oppo Reno 3 was released alongside Oppo F15 in Nepal on March 23rd, 2020.
The phone has ditched the motorized shark fin pop up housing, as seen in the Reno series’s previous iterations, favoring a teardrop notch on the front. The phone is officially priced at Rs. 46,990 in the Nepali market.

Design and Display
The most distinctive and unique form factor of the Oppo Reno series was its shark fin pop up housing for the front camera, which the Reno 3 has dropped, favoring a teardrop notch.
The phone has a new sleek design that is thinner and lighter than the Reno series’s previous iterations. The Reno 3 has a thickness of 7.9mm and weighs 170 grams with the dimension 160.2 x 73.3 x 7.9 mm.
The phone’s side frame is made of plastic and contains a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB type C, speaker grill and microphone on the bottom, a power button on the right and volume rockers, and a sim tray on the left. The Oppo Reno 3 is available in two color options: Auroral Blue and Midnight Black.
The Oppo Reno 3 features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels at ~411 PPI density. The display is a regular 60 Hz display. The screen to body ratio of the phone is ~84.2%. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 on top. It comes with an in-display optical fingerprint sensor that can unlock the phone in 0.34 seconds.
Performance and Memory
The Oppo Reno 3 is powered by the Mediatek MT6779 Helio P90 processor and IMG PowerVR GM 9446 GPU. The Helio P90 processor is based on 12nm architecture with 8 cores (2×2.2 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55).
The Reno 3 comes in the configuration of 8GB LDDR4x with 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The internal storage can also be extended using an external SD card in the hybrid micro SD card slot.
The device runs Oppo’s colorOS 7 out of the box. The colorOS 7 is based on Android 10. The phone has the Dark Mode feature, which applies a dark theme to the device.
The Oppo Reno 3 features a quad camera setup on the rear containing a 48-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture; a second 13-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture; a third 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture, and a fourth 2-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera setup has autofocus and EIS and can record 4K videos at 30fps and 1080p videos at 30/60fps.
Upfront, the teardrop notch houses a 44-megapixel camera for selfies, with an f/2.4 aperture, which can record 1080P video at 30fps.
The Oppo Reno 3 packs a 4025mAh non-removable Li-ion battery and supports 20 watts VOOC 3.0 quick charging technology, charging it up to 50% in 30 minutes and 100% in 73 minutes as advertised by the company, which is quite impressive. There is also an option to save the battery by turning on the smart saver.
