Infinix is a Chinese smartphone company, recently known for its high-value budget devices. Although Infinix made a debut in Nepal with the launch of Infinix Smart 4, the company has made a proper entry in the Nepali smartphone market with the launch of Infinix Hot 9 Play and Infinix Note 7.
The device was officially launched by Ola Electronics, the national distributor for Infinix devices for Nepal, in August 2020. Infinix Hot 9 Play’s official price in Nepal is Rs. 11,490 for the 2/32GB variant and Rs. 14,990 for the 4/64 GB variant.
Infinix Hot 9 Play Overview
Infinix Hot 9 Play is a device from the Infinix Hot 9 series lineup, including Infinix Hot 9 and Infix Hot 9 Pro. The regular Infinix Hot 9 and Hot 9 Pro offer very similar specs. However, the Hot 9 Play features different specs than its siblings and makes its way into our list of best smartphones under Rs. 15,000 in Nepal.
Design and Display
The device has a plastic body measuring 8.9 mm in thickness and weighing 209 grams. The plastic back panel has a gem cut texture and features a left-aligned rectangular camera module with rounded corners and a fingerprint sensor.
It offers a 6.82-inches IPS LCD display panel with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels in a tall aspect ratio of 20.5:9. The company is calling it a Cinematic display because the screen’s aspect ratio is closer to the IMax movie ratio. The screen also features a waterdrop notch to house the selfie camera.
Performance and Memory
Under the hood, the Infinix Hot 9 Play is powered by two different processors for its two variants. The base variant with the memory configuration of 2 GB RAM coupled with 32 GB internal storage is powered by the Mediatek Helio A22 processor with PowerVR GE8300. Similarly, the variant with 4 GB RAM with 64 GB of internal storage is powered by MediaTek Helio A25 processor with PowerVR GE8320 GPU.
The Helio A22 is a quad-core processor with 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53, while the Helio A25 is an octa-core processor with 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.5 GHz Cortex-A53. Both of these variants run on Android 10 and have expandable storage with a dedicated microSD card slot.
Camera
The camera module on the back houses a dual-camera setup consisting of a 13 MP primary lens coupled with a QVGA Low light sensor arranged vertically along with triple-LED flash. Upfront, the selfie camera inside the waterdrop notch is an 8 MP sensor. These camera setups can take 1080p videos at 30 fps.
Battery and Others
The Infix Hot 9 Play packs a huge 6000 mAh Li-Po non-removable battery. It features connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB 2.0. It is available in Midnight Black, Violet Quetzal Cyan, and Ocean Wave color options.
