The phone is competitive with Infinix Hot 9 Play and Redmi 9A, both of which are also on the list of best smartphones under Rs. 15,000 in Nepal.
Nokia 2.4 Overview
Nokia 2.4 is a budget smartphone and one of the best budget phones from the brand. It has a large display and premium looks with a giant battery. As the phone is a part of the Android One program, it stays up to date for three years. However, with its features and performance, the phone could have gone for a lower price as other Chinese rivals flaunt great features in this budget.
Design and Build Quality
6.5 inches IPS LCD on Nokia 2.4 has an aspect ratio of 20:9 with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. Similarly, the display has average bezels around and a bottom with particularly thick bezels—the notch on the top houses the front camera. The back and the edges are made out of a single polycarbonate shell. The phone is available in three colors: Dusk, Charcoal, and Fjord.
On the right, it has power and volume buttons, while a dedicated Google Assistant key is on the left. The top edge has a headphone jack, and the bottom has a single loudspeaker, a micro USB port for charging and data. The rear has a 3D Nano-textured cover. Following this, it houses a dual camera vertically, starting from the top-center. The phone weighs 189 grams.
The fingerprint sensor is at the rear, just below the camera. The sensor placement is at the right position, as the index finger falls precisely at it. Similarly, it also has AI face unlock. On the other hand, Google Assistant lets you get things done fast, commanding with your voice.
Performance
Nokia 2.4 packs MediaTek Helio P22 with 2GB or 3GB of RAM, coupled with 32GB or 64GB of inbuilt storage, respectively. The in-built memory is expandable up to 512GB via a microSD card. Nokia 2.4 gets the chipset working together with an octa-core processor, clocking at 2.0 GHz. PowerVR GE8320 handles the GPU. The phone is not for gaming unless it is just 2D games.
Nokia 2.4 runs on Android 10 and is a part of the Android One program like all the other Nokia phones, meaning it has clean Android with less bloatware. It also means the guarantee of three years of monthly security updates and two years of software updates. As the phone is ready for Android 11, you do not feel backward with the software.
Camera
The dual camera is a 13MP with f2.2. It also has a 2MP depth sensor. Likewise, the primary camera has an autofocus.
It has a Night mode and portrait mode. Image from the rear camera is average with fine details and decent dynamic range. With social media-ready pictures, the color is, however, relatively unsaturated. But all thanks to the editing apps you get these days, they add some life to the images.
Videos are recordable with 1080p at 30fps.
On the front, Nokia 2.4 has a 5MP selfie camera.
Battery
Nokia 2.4 packs a 4500 mAh AI-assisted Adaptive Battery. It depends upon the outdated micro USB port for charging. The battery roughly goes up to two days of use.
