Focused on the entry-level and mid-range smartphone, Tecno has now stepped into the premium range smartphone by releasing Tecno Phantom X on 24th June 2021. The brand is relaunching the Phantom as a sub-brand that will focus on premium devices. Tecno has already launched budget-friendly smartphones like Tecno POVA, Tecno Camon 15 Pro, Tecno Spark 5 Pro, etc.
Tecno Phantom X Overview
Phantom X is the first smartphone by the new sub-brand of Tecno. It has premium specifications with impressive cameras, both on the rear and front.
Design and Build Quality
The smartphone has a 6.7-inches Super AMOLED display. It is a 90 Hz display having a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. Likewise, the smartphone has a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9 with curved sides.
For the protection on the front and back, it employs Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5. The physical dimension of the smartphone is 163.5 x 73.8 x 8.7 mm.
The display features a dual selfie camera on the top-left corner, while it has a triple rear camera inside a rectangular module at the center. The smartphone has a two-color variant: Starry Night Blue and Monet Summer.
Since the smartphone has an AMOLED display, it features an in-display fingerprint reader. It takes 0.4 seconds for the phone to unlock via biometric. It also supports Face Unlock for unlocking the phone.
Performance
Powering the smartphone is a MediaTek Helio G95 chipset; it is a 12 nm chip. It has two Cortex-A76 clocking at 2.05 GHz and six Cortex-A55 with a clocking speed of 2.0 GHz.
In addition, the smartphone has a Mali-G76 MC4 GPU to handle the smartphone’s graphics; it is probably the least impressive part of this premium smartphone. Moving on, it has 8 GB of RAM combined with 256 GB of storage.
The smartphone also has a vapor chamber cooling system attached to the chipset; it promises to keep the system 3-5º cooler.
Tecno Phantom X boots Android 11 based on HIOS 7.6 out of the box.
Camera
The Tecno Phantom X flaunts a triple camera on the rear. It has a 50 MP main sensor with dual pixel and laser autofocus. The lens of the primary camera is an f/1.85.
Next, it has a 13 MP telephoto camera with a 50 mm lens; it is billed as a portrait camera. It has 2x magnification. It is the first time for the Tecno phone to have a telephoto lens. Further, the third camera is an ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree field of view. It has an 8 MP sensor.
The cameras sit together with quad-LED flash. Tecno has not opted for the other depth and macro camera, which is great as they do not have any usage.
Tecno Phantom X has a 48 MP Selfie camera, which is accompanied by an 8 MP ultra-wide lens with a 105-degree field of view. A dual-LED flash backs these dual selfie cameras.
Battery
A 4,700 mAh battery fuels the Tecno Phantom X. It supports 33W fast charging.
As per the advertisement, it takes 30 minutes to get a 70% charge.
