OnePlus 9 Overview
OnePlus 9 is the successor to the OnePlus 8. It has a good display, clean software, and a great UI. The cameras are also good, although the telephoto camera is absent. And fast charging technology is also one of the pros of the smartphone.
Design and Build Quality
The front of the OnePlus 9 is similar to the OnePlus 8T; it has flat glass on the front. The punch hole front camera lies on the top-left corner of the display. The frame on the OnePlus 9 is fiber-reinforced plastic.
OnePlus 9 flaunts a 6.55 inches FHD+ display with a resolution of 2400 x 1800 pixels. The refresh rate of the display is 120 Hz. Similar to the OnePlus 9 Pro, it can also go down to save power; however, it cannot go up 1Hz.
The volume button on the left of the phone has shifted down on the left, making it comfortable to access. Alert slider and the power buttons lie on the right side.
The camera setup on the back is on a rectangular module, shifted to the top-left corner. It has a triple camera array with Hasselblad branding. Also, it is glass on the back.
The display has an optical fingerprint sensor located at the bottom; many find the position to be unusually low.
Performance
The smartphone’s processing power comes from the latest chipset of Qualcomm – Snapdragon 888 built on 5nm fabrication process. It is an octa-core processor, clocking up to 2.84 GHz. Similarly, Adreno 660 GPU powers the graphics.
OnePlus 9 has LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The RAM and storage options on the smartphone are 8 GB RAM combined with 128 GB storage and 12 GB RAM combined with 256 GB storage. The internal memory is non-expandable.
Similar to the OnePlus 9 Pro, the OnePlus 9 also has the “Cool Play” feature. A large vapor chamber on this technology helps to divert the heat during the gameplay.
OnePlus 9 boots Android 11 based on OxygenOS 11.
Camera
A triple-camera setup on the back consists of a primary camera, ultra-wide camera, and a monochrome lens. The primary camera has a 48 MP Sony IMX689 lens, while the ultra-wide camera has a 50 MP Sony IMX766 lens. The monochrome lens is a 2MP camera.
Hasselblad manufactures the camera, as we all may know by now.OnePlus 9 has a Natural Color Calibration method developed by Hasselblad. The camera lacks a dedicated telephoto lens and instead performs a digital zoom on the main camera.
Its main camera can record videos up to 8K resolution at 30fps. The 30 and 60 fps have EIS available, but the 120fps mode lacks the EIS.
The camera on the front is a 16 MP Sony IMX471 lens with an f/2.4 aperture. The video from the front camera is recordable in 1080p at 30fps.
Battery
OnePlus 9 has the same dual-cell battery as OnePlus 8T; it has dual 2,250 mAh cells equalling to the battery capacity of 4,500 mAh.
It supports Warp Charge 65T, filling the full battery in just 29 minutes. It further supports 15W fast wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging but only in Europe and North America.
