Huawei’s mid-range smartphone launched on 8th November 2019 is Huawei Y9s. The company is famous for its well-known flagship smartphones, but it also makes some mid-range phones like Y9s under its Y series. The price of the Huawei Y9s is NPR 32,900. The smartphone has an excellent display with a strong processor and ample battery capacity. The cameras of the phone are also excellent. But, the phone lacks screen protection. However, its other features are adequate to cover the cons as the phone’s massive storage is something you can’t ignore.
Design and Build Quality
Huawei Y9s comes with a 6.69inch bezel-less display and a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. The smartphone has a glass front and back with an aluminum frame. Also, the display is notch-free with Full-HD+ resolution. The phone weighs 206 grams. It is available in three color variants: Midnight Black, Breathing Crystal, and Phantom Purple.
Following this, the volume rocker and the phone’s power button are on the right side. Fingerprint functioning is on the power button. Likewise, a 3.5mm headphone jack, primary microphone, a USB Type-C port, and a speaker grille are on the bottom. A hybrid slot lies on the top and secondary microphone while the selfie is the pop-up camera. On the other hand, the left side is neat and clean. Powering the phone is a mid-range chipset, Kirin 710F, made in Huawei’s lab. For graphics management, it has a Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. Y9S packs 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard memory. You can also expand the storage with a micro SD card up to 512GB. However, the phone may not support heavy gaming performance while it is fair for medium graphics games.
The phone boots EMUI 9.1.1 on top of the Android 9.0 Operating system. The fingerprint scanner is slightly slower but accurate. If you are wondering about the Google apps, the phone has complete Google support.
Camera
Huawei Y9s on the rear flaunts a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP depth camera.
The picture quality is decent, with vibrant color and enough details. The wide-angle camera performs pretty well under low light. Along with that, it also supports the night-mode. Furthermore, AI Beauty Algorithm helps clarify images and produce better portrait images. Some of the camera features are Autofocus, continuous shooting, digital zoom, HDR, panorama, face detection, self-timer, geotagging, etc.
On the front, the Y9s features a 16MP pop-up camera. The selfie camera is bright enough to capture images in low-light conditions.
The details of the selfie are fair, with excellent color and exposure. Portrait mode gives average edge detection. However, you may feel overexposure and sometimes underexposure depending upon the image’s background.
The videos from both cameras are recordable up to 1080p and work fine under proper light. Although, a lack of stabilization is visible.
Battery
A Li-Po 4000 mAh battery fuels the phone. Additionally, the phone supports 10W charging.
