Huawei Mate X2 with Foldable Display and Kirin 9000 processor, Launched in China

Huawei has finally launched Huawei Mate X2 in China on 22nd February. The phone adopts a folding design just like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, but it is more expensive. The starting price of Huawei Mate X2 in China is 17,999 Yuan (around NPR 321,175) for a 256GB variant, where the 512GB variant will set you back 18,999 Yuan (around NPR 339018). The phone is Huawei’s third generation of foldable phone.

Huawei Mate X2 Overview

Huawei Mate X – the first foldable phone from the brand – and Huawei Mate XS have an out-folding design, and now the newly launched Huawei Mate X2 adopts an in-folding approach. It has given great attention to most of the details, from the display to the folding techniques.

Design and Build Quality

The phone flaunts an 8-inches primary OLED screen of 2200 x 2480 pixels, folding like a book: it comes as a standard smartphone and turns into a tablet-style device. Once you fold the phone, a separate external 6.45 inches OLED display of 1160 x 2700 pixels appears. Both of the displays have a 90Hz refresh rate. There is no notch in the 8-inches FullView Display, thus giving an uninterrupted view.

The phone has a perfect fold without any gap between the two sides. As per Huawei’s claim, the multi-dimensional hinge made using forging techniques and innovative materials conceal the hinge, giving a flawless look.

Huawei Mate X2 Edge Design

The phone’s wedge shape gives an extra edge, with the thinnest part being about 4.4 mm, which ultimately provides a more comfortable grip as the center of gravity is closer to where you hold the phone.

A fingerprint scanner is side-mounted. The smartphone also has an IR blaster and NFC. Huawei Mate X2 has four color variants: Pink, Black, White, and Blue. The phone weighs 295 grams.

Performance

Huawei Mate X2 features a Kirin 9000 5G processor coupled with 8GB of RAM, 256GB, or 512 GB of storage. The internal storage is expandable. 24-cores Mali-G78 GPU handles the graphics processing. Similarly, the chipset supports 5G connectivity and has fast processing speeds.

Huawei also announced its own operating system – Harmony OS, and Huawei Mate 2 is eligible for this upgrade.
