Honor has finally unveiled Honor Play 5 after so many rumors and leaks. Honor Play 5 was launched on 18th May 2021 in China. The official starting price of the smartphone in China is CNY 2,099 (around NPR 38,160), whereas the price of the 8/256 model is CNY 2,299. Similarly, the expected price of Honor Play 5 in Nepal is NPR 42,000 for the base model of 8/128 GB and NPR 45,000 for the 8/256 GB variant.
Honor Play 5 Overview
Honor Play 5 is the thinnest and the lightest weight smartphone in the Honor Series. The brand is advertising the smartphone with the slogan of “smartphone for all.”
Design and Build Quality
Honor Play 5 has a 6.53-inches OLED display with FHD+ resolution. The smartphone flaunts a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and the aspect ratio of 20:9. It has a dewdrop notch housing the selfie on the top-center of the display. Similarly, the screen is TUV Rheinland certified for low light; it also supports DC Dimming.
On the rear, it has a reflective glass material and houses a quad-camera in a square module. It has three color options: Black, Violet, Light Blue. The smartphone weighs 179 grams.
Honor Play 5 has an in-display fingerprint sensor to unlock the smartphone.
Performance
As for the processor, the smartphone sports MediaTek MT6853 Dimensity 800U 5G; it has a 7 nm fabrication process. It employs a Mali-G57 MC3 for graphical processing. The octa-core processor has two Cortex-A76, clocking at the speed of 2.4 GHz; it has six Cortex-A55 with the clocking speed of 2.0 GHz.
On Honor Play 5, the storage option you get is either 128 GB or 256 GB of internal storage. It has only one option for RAM, i.e., 8 GB.
Under the hood, it has Android 10 based on Magic UI 4.0. Sadly, the smartphone lacks Google Play Service.
Camera
Honor Play 5 features a quad camera in the rear. The four cameras are a 64 MP primary shooter, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, a 2 MP macro lens, and a 2 MP depth camera. The main shooter has an aperture of f/1.9, while all the other cameras have an aperture of f/2.4.
The videos options for the rear camera are 4K at 30fps and 1080p at 30fps.
The smartphone flaunts a 16 MP selfie camera, which sits in the dewdrop notch. It can record the footage in 1080p at 30fps.
Battery
Surprisingly, Honor Play 5 packs a battery of just 3,800 mAh.
However, it supports fast charging of 66W and takes 35 minutes to fill the battery from 0% to 100%.
