Xiaomi announced new TWS earphones as Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro on 13th May 2021 in China. Xiaomi had also launched Redmi AirDots 3 in February 2021; it is getting good reviews. Since the price of new earbuds in China is CNY 799, the expected price of Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro in Nepal is NPR 17,000. Let’s find out what the earbuds offer.
Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro Overview
Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro has Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to filter up to 40 decibels of noise. It is the first TWS earbuds with ANC from the company. The design of the earbuds looks like AirPods Pro.
Design
Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro has an in-ear design featuring adjustable rubber tips. The charging case of the earbuds has an oval shape with a glossy black finish. Similarly, the LED light on the front of the case shows you the remaining battery level.
The earbuds can automatically detect when you take them off and automatically pause the music.
Audio Performance
Xiaomi FlipBuds have three microphones: one for taking in the speaker’s voice, another for listening to external noise and isolating the noise, and the third one to ensure the user’s voice is not muted accidentally.
The earbuds also have three distinct noise cancellation modes – Daily mode, Office mode, and Air Travel mode. To trigger the mode, go to the MIUI pop-up setting menu on the Xiaomi smartphones or the XiaoAI app if you have Android phones other than Xiaomi.
The Daily mode blocks the outdoor noise while the Office mode reduces light noise, such as noise coming from computer operations or air conditioning motors. Likewise, Air Travel mode reduces large loudness and low-frequency audio of any aircraft and maintains ear pressure balance.
A long press on the earbud will switch between transparency and noise-canceling mode, while a single press will either play or pause music or accept calls. Similarly, a double press will skip the currently playing track or reject calls.
The earbuds have a QCC5151 Bluetooth chip, enabled to listen and filter the environmental noise. It doesn’t let to pick up the wind accidentally and avoids ruining the audio experience. Due to the available chip, the earbuds supports aptX (Adaptive Dynamic Codec Protocol).
It supports Bluetooth 5.2 for establishing the connection. Likewise, Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro has a low-latency mode for gaming with select Xiaomi smartphones: Mi 11 Series, Mi Mix Fold, Mi 10 Series, Redmi K30 Series, Redmi K40 Series, and Redmi Note 9 Pro.
Furthermore, the earbuds connect to the two devices simultaneously via a dual device smart connection feature. If you connect to the smartphone and laptop using the feature, you can attend your phone call while listening to a song or watching a movie on your laptop; you do not have to remove the earbuds.
Battery
There is no information mentioned about the battery capacity of Xiaomi FlipBuds Pro on the official website. However, Xiaomi claims 7 hours of battery life on a single charge without ANC on, up to five hours of battery life with ANC on, and 28 hours of playtime with a charging case.
The case has a USB Type-C charging and supports wireless charging. It gives you 2 hours of playback with 5 minutes of charging.
