Samsung launched its Samsung Galaxy S21 series on 14th January 2021 after so many leaks and rumors. Samsung Galaxy S21 ultra is one of them. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Overview
Samsung S21 Ultra brings a lot of improvement from its last year’s S20 series. The design is spectacular, the color is stunning, the performance is fast with two brand new chipsets, the heating issue is gone, and the five cameras take away the phone’s attention apart from its display. Samsung continues to have the best display, and the adaptive refresh rate makes everything smoother.
Design and build quality
The phone display is 6.82 inches 144p AMOLED having a refresh rate of 120Hz. The peak brightness of 1500 nits is the highest from the Galaxy series. Talking about the design, it has a glossy color in the frame and a matte finish on the back.
The back is far away from catching the smudges, which is excellent. Both the panel has a Corning Gorilla glass Victus protection. The curved edge screen virtually eliminates the bezel.
The phone bottom has a SIM-card slot, microphone, USB Type-C port, and a speaker. On the right, we get a power button and the volume rockers. Likewise, the top has a microphone. The left frame has a neat design without any slots and controls.
The selfie camera is a punch hole on the top-center. Furthermore, you can also use an S-pen, requiring a separate folio case.
Performance
Powering the phone is two brand new chipsets: Exynos 2100 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. You get the one depending upon where (country) you buy the phone. Options for the RAM are 12GB and 16GB, LPDDR5 RAM.
ARM Mali-G78 GPU and Adreno 660 are the graphics for Exynos and Snapdragon. Ultrasonic Fingerprint is 30% faster in comparison to the last generation.
The S21 Ultra boots One UI 3.1 and Android 11. The device supports the newer and faster 6G standard.
Camera
S21 Ultra flaunts a camera in a rectangular module with a 108MP primary camera, 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and 10MP folded periscope telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom in a single column. The second column houses laser autofocus, LED flash, and a 10MP telephoto lens with a 3x optical zoom.
The zoom capability is fair. The telephoto camera is one of the best. Similarly, portrait images are also great. The new feature is a focus enhancer, which turns on automatically while taking macro photos. Overall, the images are natural-looking with vivid colors, and the night-mode is excellent.
Selfie snapper of 40MP is commendable. Shots from the S21 Ultra are bright and give top-class selfies.
Videos up to 8K @24fps are recordable with other options of 4K@60fps as well. Although there is less stabilization, the software does a fair job recording the footage. A new mode called Director’s view is added, which lets you capture video with both the back and front cameras simultaneously.
Battery
A 5000mAh battery fuels the phone supporting 25W fast charging. A full charge takes around an hour. But, the box doesn’t include the charger.
