Redmi has crossed the sale of 25 million units of Redmi Note 8 globally. Many of the Redmi smartphone in Nepal is also doing a good business as the price is highly affordable. Redmi has introduced a new smartphone to celebrate the milestone, as Redmi Note 8 2021, on 25th May 2021. The increasing confusion from the sub-brand, Redmi, has again brought confusion with the new release. But we are here to make you clear about the newly released smartphone and its features.
Redmi Note 8 2021 Overview
As the name advises, the Redmi Note 8 2021 is the refreshed model of the original Redmi Note 8 of 2019. It borrows the majority of the specifications from the original smartphone. Some of the differences between the smartphones is in the case of charging, storage, and processor.
Design and Build Quality
Redmi Note 8 2021 flaunts a 6.3-inches FHD Dot Drop display. It gives you an immersive and clear visual experience. Likewise, it has a 1080p FHD resolution and a screen-to-body ratio of 90%. The 2.5 D glass on the front has a curved structure.
Some of the modes available for the display are Reading mode, Sunlight display, and Dark mode.
Both the front and the rear panels have Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It prevents scratch and is drop resistant. Further, it also has splash-resistant nano-coating so that it can survive in rain and dust.
The smartphone comes in three color options: Neptune Blue, Moonlight White, and Space Black. The original smartphone had five color options. It weighs 190 grams.
The fingerprint reader lies on the rear side, easy to reach. It also features AI face unlock for unlocking the smartphone. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IR blaster, and FM radio.
Performance
A MediaTek Helio G85 processor powers the smartphone. The octa-core CPU operates up to 2.0GHz; it has a superior performance and increases app response speed. Mali-G52 MC2 GPU enhances the gaming experience in the smartphone.
Redmi Note 8 2021 has two options of storage: 4 GB of RAM combined with either 64 GB or 128 GB of storage. The inbuilt storage is expandable via a microSD card for up to 256GB.
The smartphone runs MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 out of the box.
Camera
The smartphone houses an AI quad-camera on the rear. It has a wide-angle camera of 48MP, whose aperture is f/1.8. Similarly, it has an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a field of view of 120-degree and an aperture of f/2.2.
Other remaining cameras are macro and depth cameras with 2MP sensors each; they have an aperture of f/2.4. The macro camera has a 2cm autofocus to shoot close-up pictures and videos.
The rear camera has a night mode, document mode, and pro mode for photography. It has options of video filters, AI Beautify, time-lapse video, and video stabilization of up to 1080p at 30fps.
The selfie shooter is a 13MP shooter with an aperture of f/2.0. It sits on the waterdrop notch at the top-center of the display.
Both the camera: front and black, can record the videos in up to 1080p resolution. The original phone can record up to 4K.
Battery
The smartphone packs a Li-Po 4000 mAh battery. It supports 18W fast charging, but it has a 22.5W inbox charger.
According to the brand, a fully charged battery can last up to two days. The battery takes two hours to get a full charge.

Redmi Note 8 2021 Expected Price in Nepal and Availability
For now, Redmi has listed the smartphone only on the official website of Xiaomi. There is no report about its price and availability in the global market.
