Redmi 9A Price in Nepal is NRS. 11,499. Among all the Xiaomi smartphones in Nepal, it is the cheapest of all.
The phone gives a decent value for money with some great features and some compromised. It is one of the most affordable devices on our list of best smartphones under Rs. 15,000 in Nepal.
Redmi 9A Overview
The phone has an amazing battery life and acceptable gaming performance. For a low-budget phone, the Redmi 9A holds many features, which is impressive. You take away a good-performing smartphone spending a minimum budget. However, it has compromised with fast charging, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection, which was already present in its predecessor, is no longer available.
Design and Build Quality
The design of the phone is elegant. The 6.53 inches IPS LCD panel with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixel and aspect ratio of 20:9 is better than the last generation of Redmi 8A. However, the previous generation had a Gorilla Glass 5 protection, and no protective glass is present in this generation. The display has a good brightness, which will have no visibility issues indoor and outdoor but will have to struggle under direct sunlight. The phone weight is 194 grams. It has a polycarbonate body, and the surface doesn’t attract fingerprints and smudges.
There is a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top, while the left side holds a SIM tray. Similarly, volume rockers and a power button are on the right. A micro USB charging port is at the bottom, along with the speaker grille. On the front, the phone has a 5MP selfie camera. The house for the primary camera is at the top left corner on the back.
Performance
The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G25, a 12nm based octa-core processor where G in G25 stands for gaming-focused. It is the latest chipset in G-series. Performance improvement is due to the Octa 2.0Ghz Cortex-A53 CPU cores supported by PowerVR GE8320 graphics. The 2GB RAM and 32GB storage is upgradable up to 512GB through a micro-SD card.
It runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 10 OS.
Camera
A 12MP camera is at the back, lying vertically on the top-left with an LED flash. The primary camera pictures are quite good. The details and color reproduction are reasonably accurate. Although the dynamic range pictures are not impressive, you can have HDR turned on for it; however, the HDR takes 2-3 seconds to fully process the images, resulting in a blurred picture if your hand is not steady. On top of that, the photos still look overly saturated.
A 5MP selfie shooter is punched holed at the top, lying on the center in a waterdrop style notch. Selfie picture for this budget phone is also acceptable. It gives a good focus. Both the camera has portrait modes, but edge detection is not fair. Also, there is no dedicated night mode and the shots during nights are terribly sharp. Again, for the price you pay, some featured should be comprised.
The video has 1080p @30fps for both cameras. The stabilization of the video is low. A face unlock feature is also available on this smartphone.
Battery
A 5000 mAh battery powers the phone, which is non-removable. A micro USB port is present for charging and comes with a 10W charging. Here, the Redmi could have upgraded the Type-C port with 18W charging of the Redmi 8A, which is a downfall. It also has an ultra battery-saving mode. The total time for the battery’s full charge from 0% to 100% is 2 hours and 50 minutes.
