iQOO Neo 5 with Snapdragon 870 and 120 Hz Display Launched in China

iQOO is a sub-brand under Vivo. During the launch of Vivo iQOO back in March 2019, Vivo mentioned that the company would bring gaming-focused smartphones under the iQOO lineup. Now, the company has added a new gaming smartphone, iQOO Neo 5, in China.

The device is now available for pre-order in China with sales starting from March 22. The base variant of the device with an 8/128 GB configuration is officially priced at CNY 2,499.

The iQOO Neo 5 is a gaming-centric smartphone and brings a ton of features to provide a rich gaming experience such as an in-game fps accelerator, Multi-Turbo 5.0 technology, and more.

Design and Display

The iQOO Neo 5 has an AG matte glass body and measures 8.4 mm in thickness and 196 grams in weight. The back panel features a left-aligned rectangular camera module that houses the rear camera setup. It also features the iQOO logo just below the camera module. The phone is available in Orange, Black, and Blue color options.

The smartphone offers a 6.62 inches AMOLED panel with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels in a tall aspect ratio of 20:9. The screen has a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 1000 Hz. It has a peak brightness of 1300 nits and features a center-aligned punch hole to house the device’s selfie camera.

Performance and Memory

Under the hood, the iQOO Neo 5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset with Adreno 650 GPU.  It is available in the memory configuration of 8 GB RAM with 128/256 GB of internal storage and 12 GB RAM coupled with 256 GB of internal storage. As for the software, the device runs on OriginOS based on Android 11.

The smartphone features a graphite plate cooling setup with an area of 6000 mm2. Like the Vivo X60 Pro+, it features a memory fusion technology that allows some portion of the internal storage to be used as additional RAM when needed. It also comes with a feature that allows the frame rate of select games to go up to 120 Hz.

Camera

The rectangular camera module on the back features a triple camera setup consisting of a 48 MP Sony IMX598 primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 13 MP ultra-wide camera of f/2.2 aperture, and a 2 MP depth sensor of f/2.4 aperture, and a dual-LED flash. Upfront, the selfie camera housed inside the punch-hole is a 16 MP sensor of f/2.0 aperture.

The rear camera setup can take up to 4K videos at 30 fps, while the selfie camera can take up to 1080p videos at 30 fps.

Battery and Other Features

The device packs a 4400 mAh battery with support for 66W FlashCharge. The company claims that the device can fully charge from 0 to 100% in 30 minutes. The device offers an in-display optical fingerprint sensor for biometric options. The device also comes with support for 5G, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.1 for connectivity options.

iQOO Neo 5 Expected Price in Nepal and Availability

The iQOO Neo 5 is now available for pre-order in China and will be available for purchase from March 22. The base variant of the phone with an 8/128 GB variant is officially priced at CNY 2,499. There is no news regarding the international availability of the device as of now. However, we can expect the device’s base variant to start around NPR 50,000 if it launches in Nepal.
