Coolpad unveiled its latest smartphone Cool 20 on Tuesday, May 25. The new successor of Coolpad Cool 10 launched in 2020, Cool 20 will be a remarkably upgraded version with an enhanced build quality, specs and more powerful chipset. Before the official launch, the company had already revealed some of the design renders and performance aspects on Coolpad Cool 20 through their social media handles.
Coolpad Cool 20 Overview
Cool 20 introduces a renewed design especially with a whole glass body and an interesting dual rear camera module. The processor section comes with a huge leap compare to Cool 10, whereas the power backup system is also loaded with a durable 4500mAh battery.
Design and Display
Coolpad has replaced the plastic body on Cool 10 with a glass sandwich build for Cool 20 which will definitely give it a premium look, also making it scratch-proof. It is more likely to use a metal frame for higher strength. The front has a water-drop notch for camera and the back has the brand’s signature ‘COOL’ text on display.
There hasn’t been much announcement on the display aspects. However, with such elevated build quality, we can expect no less than a display panel with a high definition screen resolution. The phone will be available in three different color variations: Cocoa White, Piaget Black, and Secret Sea Blue.
Performance and Memory
Coolpad Cool 20 will be powered with a 12nm Mediatek Helio G80 chipset instead of the low performance Helio P35 used in Cool 10. It is based on an Octa-core processor with 2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.8 GHz Cortex-A55. Mali-G52 MC2 will handle the graphics unit. It will run on the company’s proprietary Cool OS.
The phone will provide a massive internal storage of 120GB which is an extreme offer considering it to be a budget smartphone. It uses EROFS (Enhanced Read-Only File System), a lightweight read-only file system developed by Huawei for faster file loading.
Camera
Cool 20 will feature a dual rear camera setup comprising a 48MP primary camera sustained by a secondary ultra-wide lens. The setup camera has an interesting layout with a rounded rectangular bump enclosing the dual camera and an LED flash with a lens like fitting. The front notch has a 13MP selfie camera.
The camera module also features ArcSoft branding representing the collaboration between the two brands to deliver an advanced camera service. AcrSoft provides an optimization to the phone camera and enables features like AI-powered image processing.
Battery and Connectivity
The phone carries a 4500mAh battery which is adequate for regular usage as well as high end performance like gaming.
The connectivity line includes dual-band Wi-FI, and 4G network Bluetooth 5.0, GPS.
