OnePlus launched the OnePlus 7 only after the launch of the Pro version of the OnePlus 7 series – OnePlus 7 Pro in Nepal in 2019. OnePlus 7 is an affordable one with pricing similar to the OnePlus 6T’s cost when it was launched. The device was officially launched by iHub the authorized distributor of OnePlus devices in Nepal.

OnePlus 7 Overview
OnePlus 7 is a toned-down version of the OnePlus Pro with some compromises in features to deliver the flagship-level experience while maintaining a reasonable price tag. Let’s see whether the OnePlus falls short on features or makes the right compromises.
Design and Display
The phone has a glass back and fronts with a metal side frame. However, OnePlus has opted for using Gorilla Glass 5 protection at the back and Gorilla Glass 6 protection at the front. The phone has a curved back and slightly rounded front glass to the sides.
The device features a dual-camera setup inside a pill-shaped camera module in the middle. The power key resides on the right frame, the volume button and SIM tray on the left side, and the USB-C connector is at the bottom along with the microphone and loudspeaker. It does not have an official ingress protection rating.
OnePlus 7 offers a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with an FHD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels in an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The screen has a waterdrop notch to house the selfie camera, and a standard 60Hz refresh rate not the 90Hz Fluid display as in the Pro variant. There is also an advanced mode that lets you have manual control over color temperature. The screen supports HDR10 and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 6.
Performance and Memory
OnePlus never fails to deliver on performance by using the latest flagship chipset on their devices. OnePlus 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and Adreno 640 GPU handles graphics-intensive tasks. It is a 7 nm node octa-core CPU with Kryo 485 clocked up to 2.96 GHz. As for the software, it runs on OxygenOS 10.0.5 based on Android 9, upgradable to Android 10 out of the box.
The phone is available in the memory configurations of 6 GB RAM with 128 GB and 8 GB or 12GB with 256 GB of internal storage. The storage is based on UFS 3.0 technology, but there is no support for extending the storage using an external SD card.
Camera
OnePlus 7 features a dual-camera setup consisting of a 48 MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, 0.8µm pixels, and OIS. Accompanying the main camera is a 5 MP depth sensor of f/2.4 aperture. Upfront, a 16 MP sensor of f/2.0 aperture and 1.0µm pixel size sits inside the waterdrop notch.
The rear camera of the device can take up to 4K videos at 30 and 60 fps. The rear main camera also supports slow-motion videos at 1080p@240fps and 720p@480fps. Likewise, the front camera record videos at 1080p@30fps.
Battery and Other Features
The device packs a 3,700 mAh battery with support for 20-Watt Fast Charging via USB Type C port. The device can charge from a dead battery to 55% in 30 minutes. You will get a 20W Dash Charger inside the box.
For biometrics, the device offers an in-display optical fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock technology. It features a dual speaker stereo setup but misses out on the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
