DishHome has been providing Direct to Home (DTH) service. PrabhuTV is the first company in Nepal to introduce Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB-T2) service; both are coming together to offer better quality service in their particular sector.
Both companies had also started providing internet and Over Top (OTT) services since 2020. Now the two businesses are uniting to form a new entity. DishHome CEO Sudeep Acharya informed that the merging issue has been under discussion for some time, and the process is being finalized.
According to Acharya, both companies have concluded that delivering joined service through the same channel is the best alternative. He also stated that a single business could perform better than multiple ones, whereas a merger is necessary to offer the best service in a small market.
The recent execution of the Clean feed policy in Nepal has not been much help, and the television service business has dropped. This led to the consideration of merger; however, the conclusion is yet to come, but no other choices seem to be available.
Some of the promoters of both companies are common, with DishHome having investors like IME Group, Chinese Businessmen, Sudeep Acharya Group, and Prabhu Group. A representative of PrabhuTV also reported the matter of merger being discussed.
