Dell Vostro 14 3400 Overview
Design and Build
The Design of the laptop is similar to any other budget laptop from Dell. The lid cover and the device’s main deck are made from plastic. The body has a matte finish with a diagonal line pattern that extends to the device’s inner frame. The lid features the company’s logo at the center.
One of the advantages of using plastic build is the lightweight body of the device, and Dell Vostro 14 is no exception which weighs around 1.58 kilograms. The device has a dimension of 239.5 x 328.7 x 18.1 mm (WxDxH). It features an HDMI port, an RJ 45 port, two USB 3.2, a mic/headphone combo jack, and a charging port on the left edge. Similarly, it features a 3-in-1 SD media card reader, a USB 2.0 Type-A port, and a wedge-shaped lock slot on the right edge.
Screen
The display on the device is a 14 inch IPS LCD panel. It has an FHD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The screen lid features narrow bezels on the sides. However, the top and bottom bezels are quite large, especially the bottom bezels, which feature a company logo. The top bezel houses the web camera of the device, which is a 720p HD camera.
Performance and Memory
The laptop is powered by Intel’s new Tiger Lake Core i5 processor. The i5-1135G7 processor used in the laptop is a mobile processor with quad-cores with a 2.4 GHz base clock and 4.20 GHz Max Turbo Clock. It comes with integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, which have a way better performance than AMD’s Radeon graphics.
The laptop comes with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM (@2666MHz) and 256 GB of M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD storage. The laptop features dual drive slots which allow users to install up to 2 TB of HDD or 1 TB of SSD for additional storage.
Keyboard and Trackpad
The keyboard is placed at the center of the inner chassis of the laptop. The keyboard does not have a Numpad section to match the small body of the device. The keys are dark grey in color and are not backlit.
The trackpad also has a matte finish with support for multi-touch. It can handle daily tasks and gestures smoothly.
Battery and Other Features
The laptop packs a 3-cell 42Wh Li-Ion battery and comes with a 45W AC adapter. The dual 2W stereo speaker setup handles the audio on the device. The laptop features a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 chip, which is a hardware-based security option. It also stores sensitive data like passwords, keys, etc.
The laptop also supports the Dell mobile connect protocol, which allows it to connect to mobile devices to transfer photos and files wirelessly. It features Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and an RJ 45 port for connectivity options.
